Andreas Avramidis emerged as the most Sustainable bartender in Greece, in the Flor de Caña Sustainable Cocktail Challenge 2024 competition!
A total of 7 finalists from all over Greece arrived in Athens and more specifically at the “Kazba Bar Kouzina”, in Porto Rafti where the grand final of Greece was held. However, before the competition part a special experience awaited them, a unique tour of the most sustainable building in Greece “Helios Eco Lab”. This tour gave them the opportunity to get to know and incorporate the element of sustainability into their daily lives, in forms and practices that no one could imagine. Mr. David Davis, the owner of the house, was the one who shared his knowledge and experiences on the subject.
After this fantastic tour, it was time to start the competition part at “Kazba Bar Kouzina”, a location that closely resembles the place where the grand world final will be held, the Las Isletas Islands of Nicaragua. All attendees attending the competition had the opportunity to enjoy refreshing cocktails based on Flor de Caña rum as well as delicious creations by the chef.
After the presentation of all the recipes of the competition, the creation of Andreas Avramidis won the impressions, where the big winner of the competition emerged. Andreas is 34 years old and has been working in the restaurant industry for over a decade, while today one can find him at the all day bar restaurant “Kokkini Svoura”, in Chalandri.

The award was won by his unique recipe entitled “Circle OF Life” with which he wanted to highlight the way in which all bars can utilize their local and seasonal ingredients with the minimum possible ecological footprint. The material that was his main inspiration is melon!
As he stated: “In drinking, nothing goes to waste – every part of the fruit is used with different techniques. We take ingredients that are usually thrown into bars and give them new life. With Flor de Caña as an ally, we give life back to our fruit, using its seeds for composting and creating a natural fertilizer that allows us to regenerate and reuse what nature offers us.”

This unique experience could not have been realized without the contribution of Anastasios Karafoulides, who, as Brand Ambassador of Flor de Caña and host of the competition, gave the necessary directions to the contestants. Alexandros Seretis, last year’s winner of Flor de Caña SCCH, also played an important role, where he helped the contestants with his advice. The second place of the deputy was occupied by Thanos Sideris, bartender and owner of Sips + Sins, in Larissa.
