Don Papa Gayuma – which means “magic potion of love” – is an ultra-premium rum that pays homage to the unique rituals performed by the shamans of Mount Kanlaon and Isla del Fuego (“the island of fire”).

It is aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels for three years, before aging in double barrels: 6 months in intensely burnt ex-Rioja barrels and 3 months in hot and smoked oak barrels, which contained the Scotch whiskey from the legendary Islay Island.

Color: Dark amber

Aroma: Peaty

Taste: Soft and delicate vanilla, orange peel, cocoa and notes of clove and mint.

Aftertaste: Smoky and spicy

The story of Don Papa Rum begins at the foot of the active volcano Mt. Kanlaon, where sugar cane is ground to create a sweet, rich molasses. The Philippines has historically been one of the top ten sugar cane producers in the world! Negros Island, or Sugarlandia, as the locals call it, produces over half of the country’s total sugar production. “Don Papa” is a tribute to Papa Isio, the true and charismatic leader of the Negros, who in the 1890s helped the island and won the island’s independence from the Spanish.
