Gosling’s Family Reserve Old Rum is made from the incomparable Bermuda rum blend, such as the famous Gosling’s Black Seal Rum. However, aging in oak barrels takes place for an even longer period of time, until it acquires an additional special complexity. Like a rare Scotch or Cognac, Gosling’s Family Reserve premium rum displays strong barrel elements and light spicy notes. That is why each bottle is approached carefully, dipped in wax, numbered, wrapped with a metal tape, and then placed in a wooden box.

The story of Gosling’s rum begins in 1806, when the son of a wine and drink merchant, James Gosling, set off from England for America, carrying a merchandise worth 10,000 pounds. But, after 90 days of wandering, the ship’s license expired and it was forced to stop at the nearest port, which happened to be Bermuda. That’s how the story of the rum from Bermuda, Gosling’s, began. There the Goslings family began to create different rum blends and within 3 years they launched Old Rum, a dark, full rum preferred by British Navy generals. Later they mixed it with ginger beer and soon, it became famous as the “black seal rum“, the rum for the Dark & Stormy cocktail!
