Since its founding in 1779, Kinahan’s has been known for its innovative and unusual approach to maturation, creating new and unconventional flavors in whiskeys with a particular specialization in wood. Kinahan’s whiskey was one of the first brands to focus solely on creating aged whiskeys. Kinahan’s is among the original leading companies that helped shape the matured category as we know it today.

What we are focusing on today is exactly what the Kinahan’s about 240 years ago – using rare types of wood and origin, as a key source of flavor and character that continue to push the boundaries.

Wood as the main source of all taste. The way wood is aged and treated makes all the difference. The wood used in all bespoke barrels undergoes 36 months of drying before barrel creation and burning.

TERROIR = The flavor comes from the barrel, the barrels come from wood, the wood comes from the trees and the trees come from the soil that gives it its properties. The origin of the tree helps to create a different flavor effect in the whiskey. It allows us to focus on the origin as a source of natural flavor.

Hybrid barrels. Against ordered, handmade, rare wood items. A large part of the portfolio of Kinahan’s whiskey is exclusively for them and is not available anywhere else.

Kinahan’s ultimate goal is to continue to evolve for the next generations of whiskey lovers. Therefore, sustainability is at the core of all of us. Kinahan’s is one of only 350 food and beverage companies in Ireland with sustainability certification. As a member of the government-led ORIGIN GREEN program, Kinahan’s continues its focus on sustainability (both environmental and social).

In 2019, Kinahan’s pioneered a new sustainability effort through a unique partnership with Quercus (Europe’s largest NGO in the field of native tree reforestation). Having gained access to hundreds of acres of land in Portugal, Kinahan’s embarked on its long-term reforestation effort to make up for the rare and dying peculiarity of Portuguese oak.
