The origin of our chocolate goes back at least 4000 years. Ancient Central American cultures used cocoa beans to make hot, fragrant, and bitter beverages they called chocolate. This drink was directly linked to fertility and wisdom. When Christopher Columbus brought chocolate to Europe, it immediately became a best seller. A little later it was discovered that cocoa could be mixed with milk and butter-cocoa to create this which is now known as “chocolate”, since 1876. MONIN Chocolate can be used as the main flavor, or even mixed with another.

On an ordinary evening in the early 1900s, George Monin had organized the perfect family dinner, but at the end of the evening he realized he couldn’t find any high-quality liqueur to offer his guests. That’s how it all started, as that night was the reason for his decision to make his own liqueur. In 1912 he sold his own spirits for the first time in a small French town, Bourges. From the very first moment, its slogan was “Passion for quality”. Of course, he couldn’t have imagined that a hundred years later his family business would be the most successful syrup company in the world, keeping the same slogan. In 1950 Paul Monin took over the business and included syrups in its portfolio. Today, Monin operates in 140 countries but remains a family business, led by his grandson Olivier Monin. It remains true to its original values and provides high-quality products, constantly innovating and serving creativity.
