A limited-availability Japanese whiskey full of character. A bottling refined by the Myagikyo distillery. After 10 years of being in barrels, it creates a sweet taste of raspberry jam and nut notes.
The Japanese art that goes by the name of Nikka whiskey is the “child” of Masataka Taketsuru, the first person to create Japanese whiskey. With extensive experience in the distillation of Scotch malt, in 1933 he opened his own distillery with the aim of creating his own premium Japanese whiskey. Today, Nikka Japanese whiskeys have 2 distilleries, one in Hokkaido (Yoici Distillery) and one in Miyagi (Miyagikyo/Sendai Distillery). Yoichi is the latest distillery to use coal heating in Japan, which helps to preserve the traditional character of the spirit. On the other hand, in Miyagikyo whiskey is produced lighter and fruitier similar to those of the Scottish Lowlands. It is noteworthy that here they mix malt whisky with grain whiskey, a process that few distilleries in Scotland do.
